The Toowoomba Philharmonic Society is touring Handel’s Messiah and you have the opportunity to participate. The Messiah is one of the world’s best loved works and it’s one of the most rewarding choruses to be a part of.
There is also an opportunity to sing a solo in this performance, details below.
The society will perform the work 4 times over two weekends with rehearsals starting on Wednesday 1st June.
A cost of $45 per person to participate to help cover costs is requested for any non-financial members of the society. This is payable at the first rehearsal (EFTPOS or direct deposit available).

Singing a solo:
In keeping with our ethos of encouraging the people of our region to foster a love of singing, we’ve decided to do something unique with the soloist parts. Rather than the traditional 4 soloists, we want to give more people the opportunity to sing some of the best loved baroque music in the world.
We are going to run auditions on Saturday 18th June for your chance to sing a solo. Please note all soloists will be required to sing in the chorus when not doing their solo part.
For the audition you’ll be required to sing a song (ideally something from the baroque era) of approximately 3mins. You are welcome to sing a 3mins section of a longer piece if you wish.
An accompanist (Abi Bunch 0423 386 087) will be available on the day, or you are welcome to bring your own. If you would like to rehearse with Abi prior to the audition, please contact her directly for her rates and to arrange a time.
